Brecks Climate

The climate of the Brecks has earned the description ‘semi-continental’. It is colder in winter and hotter in summer than the British average, and experiences greater extremes of temperature, with the possibility of frost in almost any month. Click here for more information on The Brecks climate.

Winter Farmland

The late spring frosts can severely affect both crops and natural vegetation.

Dry Region

The Brecks is the driest part of a dry region (East Anglia), with low rainfall and, generally, very sandy soil.

The Wetlands

The wetlands here – rivers, standing water, and river valley fens- water - are vitally important, having their own rare and unusual wildlife and also acting like oases for water loving species.
